The World Book Day 2024 celebration at Seth Anandram Jaipuria saw a confluence of rhythm, talent, music, dance, drama and wit of Jaipurians.

The event held on 23rd April,2024, was held in two sessions, for the senior block and the junior block. The event was graced by Ms. Pranita Lele, an educationist par excellence and also a writer and editor , with several prestigious editorial projects to her credit including a best seller on Amazon titled “From Hey Ram to Jai Shree Ram” by noted journalist AV Singh, with a foreword by the esteemed Shashi Tharoor, a book ,‘Positively Yours: Tales from a Nani’, to name a few. The chief guest was presented a planter by the Principal, as a token of appreciation on behalf of the school.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp followed by a singularly graceful dance by Saana Sharma of Grade 9, invoking the blessings of Lord Hanuman on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The significance of the day was expressed through a speech by Vidushi of Grade 9. A song ‘ I Love Reading’ was performed by a group of students.

Every item outdid the other in its uniqueness, the fancy dress of a range of favourite fictional characters from Mowgli to Harry Potter and his entourage. The primary students became the cynosure of the entire audience with their cute costumes and dialogues! A book review of ‘ Goosebumps’ presented by students, speaking fluently in Sanskrit drew loud applause from everyone. The Hindi play , ‘Andher Nagari, Chaupat Raja’- a popular folk tale depicting the outcome of foolishness, performed by young thespians , stupefied everyone with their histrionics and had everyone in splits ! Ms. Pranita shared the importance of books, she conducted a short quiz and was pleasantly surprised to observe the enthusiastic participation and knowledge of Jaipurians. She also encouraged the students who were watching the programme to be critical and discerning readers. The Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty , commended the students on their performance and exhorted them to emulate their teachers in being collaborative to create and improve. The vote of thanks was delivered in the two sessions by the Vice Principal, Mr. Pankaj Rathore and Ms. Shilpi Kumar, the headmistress of Junior school. Pankaj Sir encouraged and commended the students. He recited a poem, inspired and composed by him on the spot, to express his overwhelming admiration for the students. Ms Shilpi Kumar praised the performance of the students, and every person associated in making the event a grand success. The programme was wrapped up by a lively dance performance – which saw students from primary to senior section joyfully gyrating and jiving to a lively tune. The message of the programme was very clear- to continue the legacy of book reading for the sake of joyful learning and growth.
