Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow had the privilege of hosting a webinar led by the eminent Cyber Security Evangelist and National Cyber Security Expert, Dr Rakshit Tandon, on 23rd May 2024. The session was attended by students from classes 9 to 12 along with the school staff. It was an enlightening exploration of various facets of cyber security.

Dr Tandon began the session by delving into real-life cases of cyber bullying, cyber fraud, trafficking, money laundering, and phishing. He highlighted the alarming frequency of these incidents and the devastating impact such incidents can have on individuals. He cautioned students against the gullible use of media and emphasised the importance of being vigilant and discerning in their online interactions.

A significant portion of the webinar was dedicated to discussing data leaks and the measures one can take to protect personal information. Dr Tandon explained the concept of digital footprints in detail and elucidated how our online activities can be tracked and potentially exploited if not managed carefully.

He also addressed the hazards associated with online gaming which is a growing concern among young people today. Dr Tandon provided practical tips for a proper digital detox and highlighted the need for maintaining mental health and building cyber resilience. He underscored the importance of developing a strong digital quotient which involves being knowledgeable and sagacious about cyber security.

The session was interactive and highly engaging with students posing numerous questions and sharing their own experiences. The feedback from both students and staff was overwhelmingly positive. The students found the session to be incredibly enriching and informative.

The Principal, Ms Poonam Kochitty, expressed her gratitude to Dr Rakshit Tandon for his time and invaluable insights. Ms Kochitty delved into the importance of having such discussions with children and teenagers owing to the pervasive influence of digital media in their lives.
