The much-anticipated finals of the first ever Day-Night Inter-School Cricket Tournament of the Jaipuria Cricket Premier League concluded on May 15th with a thrilling showdown between Sacred Heart School and Seth Anandram Jaipuria School (SAJS) Kanpur. The match, held under the floodlights at the Jaipuria Cricket Ground(Lucknow), witnessed a power packed display of cricketing prowess and sportsmanship.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address, led by the organisers, expressing gratitude to the attendees, including esteemed guests, players, and cricket enthusiasts.The event witnessed the esteemed presence of the Chief guest, Mr Ashok Sharma, a cricketing stalwart and seasoned administrator, who has been a name in the Ranji Trophy finals of 1989. Mr Durai Rajan, Director Sports, of Jaipuria Group of educational institutions also graced the occasion with his presence. The National Anthem echoed through the stadium, setting the stage for an evening of competitive cricket.
Winning the toss, Sacred Heart School opted to field first. Seth Anandram Jaipuria School (SAJS) Kanpur, batting first, displayed remarkable batting prowess, posting a challenging total of 175 runs in 12 overs. Their innings was highlighted by exemplary performances from their batsmen, led by Mahin Hasan, who later clinched the Man of the Match award.
In response, Sacred Heart School embarked on a valiant chase but fell short of the target, losing all their wickets on 130 runs in 9.5 overs. In a thrilling match SAJS Kanpur emerged victorious, claiming the title of tournament champions.
The closing ceremony witnessed the distribution of awards and accolades to recognize outstanding performances throughout the tournament. Mahin Hasan was awarded the prestigious Man of the Match title for his exceptional performance in the final match.
Vivaan Gandhi of SAJS Kanpur was honored with the Orange Cap for being the Best Batsman of the tournament, while M. Ubaid of Sacred Heart School received the Purple Cap for his stellar bowling performance.
Additionally, Virat Chauhan was declared the Man of the Series, acknowledging his consistent contributions across multiple matches.
The Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty, presented tokens of appreciation to the umpires and the dedicated videographer, acknowledging their valuable contribution to the success of this event. The event concluded with an inspiring vote of thanks that was extended by the Vice-principal, Mr Pankaj Rathore.
