CSR Drive by Seth Anandram Jaipuria School Lucknow: Music Skill Development Session at Government High School, Mastipur

“Sustainability is no longer about doing less harm. It’s about doing more good.”  – Jochen Zeitz

We’re excited to share that as part of our CSR Drive – “Education for all”, we visited Government High School, Mastipur. During this visit, we orchestrated a captivating music session, skillfully led by some of our exceptionally talented students: Apoorv Bisht (Grade 8), Ayush Srivastava (Grade 8), and Athrav Bisht (Grade 9). The artistic magic was expertly nurtured and supervised by our talented music teacher, Mr. Gaurav Singh, while the entire media coverage was deftly managed by the adept Mihir Tandon, a distinguished student in Grade 12.

The highlight of the session was the collaboration between our Grade 8 and 9 students from SAJS and Grade 10 students from Mastipur. The government school students were elated by the high-quality training provided by Mr. Gaurav and his student team. They had the opportunity to explore various musical instruments, including the clapbox, piano, guitar, and xylophone, and ukulele. Mr. Gaurav and his team bridged the realms of Indian and Western music, introducing the fundamentals and elucidating the distinctions between these instruments. This discussion-based session encouraged students to think critically and respond, aligning with our educational aspirations.

The session commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by the students, followed by an introduction to the song ‘Socha hai.’ Mr. Gaurav initiated a thought-provoking discussion related to the song ‘Socha Hai’, posing questions such as “Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue? Why is the grass green? Have you ever questioned why 2+2 equals 4 and not 5?’ This joyful exchange instilled in students the significance and art of questioning. Mr. Gaurav concluded the session by emphasizing that the path to answers lies in questioning. Subsequently, the students were introduced to the song ‘Socha hai,’ a piece they could relate to and enjoy.”

The collaborative efforts of our talented students and the dedicated guidance of Mr. Gaurav Singh left an indelible mark on both our Grade 8 and 9 students from SAJS and the Grade 10 students of Mastipur. As we departed from Mastipur, we left not only the gift of music but also the invaluable lesson that seeking answers through questioning is the essence of learning and growth. We look forward to continuing our commitment to ‘Education for All’ and fostering meaningful connections with communities as we strive to create a brighter and more harmonious future for all.
