A Visit to Government High School Mastipur,Mohanlalganj – by Seth Anandram Jaipuria School

On the 10th Of February the Principal Poonam Kochitty and Primary teacher Prachi, visited the Government High School Mastipur to get a ground level understanding of their infrastructure, teaching methodology, resources and needs and subsequently plan the next course of action for collaboration. This government High School has a total strength of 236 children in classes IX and X. It was surprising to see how despite being ill equipped and short of resources and manpower, the staff of 5 is doing a commendable job and multi-tasking.

The school campus itself has immense potential to have a better ambience in terms of a proper well maintained playground and equipment. There is no gardener unfortunately for the upkeep and weeds and tall grass were seen growing wild. Neither does the school have any ayah to do the cleaning or a guard due to which there is a lot of theft by local villagers. Iron bars from the windows and solar panels on the roof were found missing.

The library had no almirahs and books were just stacked on the floor .The classrooms had no furniture and the children were sitting on mats. Their keenness to learn was admirable despite the classroom set up. It was also commendable to see the earnestness of the teachers while teaching. The teachers of elite schools must witness this to realize how privileged they are.

We visited a room which was a mockery in the name of a Science lab. No Computers no projector, things we in private schools take for granted. It’s time to step up and lend a hand.

We at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, are all set to take the next step in providing every support we can. For a start we plan to open our doors to the children twice a month, where they can learn basic IT concepts, Oratory skills in the RJ Room, as well as explore the Music, Dance, Art Facilities and the Labs.

We hope this initiative will help change the lives of many deserving but less privileged students.
